Classical music lovers/musician friends?

I am 20 years old and I really find it hard to make friends with people who share the same interest (classical music) as me. Frankly, I am quite sick and tired of going to performance by myself. Are there some sort of classical music group or what? I feel guilty if I drag friends to a classical music concert when clearly they’re not interested it in attending.

Thanks!

Depending on where you live, lots of orchestas, operas, etc., have groups you can join for like minded music lovers. For example, there is this one:

LACO Pulse is the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s growing network for the young and culturally savvy. They meet up from time to time and go to concerts and this might be exactly what you are looking for. I’ll bet your local orchestra has something similar – just search around on their site.

    I’m like you.
That’s probably the reason that I come on this forum ten times a day.

I love classical music too and I, too, hate going alone. My family don’t like classical music but they like to come if I help them understand it more i.e. tell them all about the pieces we’re going to hear. That way, they may either learn to like classical music or they’ll just listen out for the "extremely emotional passage" and be impressed by it. I always write a few paragraphs about the music we’ll be hearing and print it and give it to my parents. They read it and they’re happy ;)

    I sympathize accordingly.
I’ve always wished to attend the Salzburg festival or Bayreuth but alas my friends tend to be unrefined heathens and philistines with little appreciation for such things.
I’d happily accompany thee if we were not probably on different continents.
